Built for nonprofits
Get your programs, your leadership and your coalition on the same page.
embargo is press release software for nonprofits and the coalitions they belong to. Inside your organization, program staff write their parts and your executive director approves. With your coalition, every member writes its own part and approves the exact words. Either way, nobody waits on a reply-all.
Inside your organization
Programs write, you shape the story
Ask each program for the background or quote it knows best, with a note on what to cover and a word limit, and drag the story into shape in the outline while they write.
Your executive director approves from a link
Your ED or board chair reads the finished release from their own link and approves, comments or asks for changes. No attachments to open, no version to find.
Quotes without the back-and-forth
Executives get one link with what to say, how long it can be and a box to write it in. No account, no password.
With your coalition
Credit every member, correctly
Each member organization gets its own sections, including its boilerplate. Ask every member to approve the finished release before it’s public, so names and numbers are right the first time.
Free for every member
Members join from a link in their email, with nothing to install. Only the organization leading a release needs a plan.
On every release
Reminders that send themselves
Set a deadline and embargo sends the reminders: a countdown before it, then a nudge every two business days to anyone who’s late, at 9 in the morning wherever they are. Each day you get one note saying who’s late.
Out when you say
The release goes public at the minute you set, and not before. When it does, every member can share it and post it on its own site.
AI only if you want it
AI drafting is optional for every release, and you can turn it off entirely. With it off, no release text goes to an AI model.
