Built for universities
Coordinate departments, researchers and partner institutions on every release.
embargo is press release software for university and research communications offices. Departments, deans and researchers write and approve on one page, and when a study has authors at four institutions, each communications office writes its part and the release lifts with the journal’s embargo.
Across your university
Every department, organized
Ask colleagues in each school or department for the background or quote they know, with a note on what to cover and a word limit. Deans and the president’s office approve the finished release from their own link.
Researchers approve their quotes
Researchers get one link with what’s needed, how long it can be and a box to write it in. No account, no password, nothing to learn.
With partner institutions
Each institution, its own section
Partner communications offices get their own sections, and join free from a link in their email.
Accuracy, approved
Every institution you ask reviews the finished release and approves, comments or asks for changes. If a finding’s wording changes after someone approves, you see what changed and can ask them again.
On every release
Timed to the journal
Set the lift to the journal’s embargo time, to the minute. Before then, reporters can read the release through a press link with your embargo terms, which you can switch off at any time.
Reminders that send themselves
Set a deadline and embargo sends the reminders: a countdown before it, then a nudge every two business days to anyone who’s late, at 9 in the morning wherever they are. Each day you get one note saying who’s late.
